An elderly Indianapolis woman hospitalized with hypothermia

A woman was found in her home late Thursday night on Indianapolis's East Side suffering with a very serious case of hypothermia. The police reported that the womans gas service had been shut off at the meter. Indianapolis has a hotline designed to assist residents with issues such as having thier gas or other utilities turned off. This is extremely important during the winter months.

Dump Truck hits and kills a bicyclist

Early yesterday afternoon a dump truck owned by Linda Kopetsky ran over a bicyclist while turning right at a red light. The accident is under investigation by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The driver of the dump Truck felt a bump as he ran over the cyclist.

Helicopter Crash in Central Indiana

A helicopter carrying five passagengers and the pilot crash landed in a corn field just north of Indianapolis Indiana last night. All six people escaped without serious injuries and no one required emergency treatment. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

5 people die when a stage collapsed at the Indiana Sate Fair

Five people died when a staged collapsed at the Indiana State Fair. The country band Sugarland was about to enter the stage when the stage in front of the Indiana State Fairgrounds grandstands fell killing and trapping many people. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.

Man killed after car ran into his house

In Western Indiana a drunk driver crashed into a family's home killing the father and seriously injuring the mother. Parke County Police reported the man who crashed into the bedroom causing the death was a fire chief for Mecca Indiana.

Firefighter Scott Davis died Wednesday, June 8th while fighting a church fire. The church located at 2200 Fuson Rd in Muncie, Indiana was the Tabernacle of Praise church. Immediate cause of the fire is not yet known. Scott's services were held Tuesday June 14th.

Fire Hazzard recall

The CPSC has recalled a number of heaters and heater fans because of electrical and fire problems. The recall involves about 92,000 portable heaters made in China. There have been burn injuries reported because of the defective heater.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is a great web site for infornmation on product recalls. Some recalls are forced recalls while others are in cooperation with the product manufacturers. Many products listed on the website can cause fire, explosion or other injuries.
