The Hasting Law Firm, of Indianapolis, on behalf of their client, recently settled a case at mediation which resulted from an arc flash explosion. The case was filed on behalf of the client who suffered burns to over 90% of his body while working on construction of a new Super Retailer. Four workers were injured when an explosion occurred in an EDC unit while the workers were pulling wire. The lawsuit arose from the failure of the general contractor to shut down power to the unit. The settlement is undisclosed at this time.

OSHA reports and recommendations include a tagout and lockout procedure is in place anytime work is done on electrically energized units. It is also recommended that supervisors be certain all employees follow safety standards or guidelines when engaging in electrical unit repair or installation.

Tom Hastings successfully litigated this case and has knowledge in the field of fire and explosion liability cases.
