Robert Johnson

Bob was born and raised in West Lafayette, Indiana, and has lived almost all his life in Indiana.  In 1990, he attended Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.  Since his first day in law school, Robert Johnson has focused on helping those who have been injured by others. Through his work at The Hastings Law Firm in Indianapolis, Indiana, he and our other personal injury and auto accident lawyers have been able to do just that.

Over the last 15 years, Bob has developed a passion for helping people who have sustained brain injuries.  Bob has personal experience with caring for a brain injured family member.  Bob and his wife, Amy (who is also an attorney), have three daughters.  One of their daughters has cerebral palsy due to a lack of oxygen at birth.  Bob’s daughter is mentally and physically handicapped but enjoys going to school, swimming with her sisters, and walking with the family dog.  Bob’s own life experience has caused him to take an empathetic approach to the representation of brain injury victims.  Bob can easily identify with and understand a family’s thoughts, feelings, and concerns for the brain injury victim.

Since 1990, Bob has limited his practice to representing persons injured or killed due to another’s negligence.  He has personally represented over 600 clients in various personal injury and wrongful death cases including automobile collisions, trucking collisions, and motorcycle accidents.

Bob has practiced law at The Hastings Law Firm since May 2004.  Before that, he practiced at Tabor Law Firm in Indianapolis from 1998 to 2004 and Vaughan & Vaughan in Lafayette, Indiana, from 1993 to 1998.  Bob graduated in 1993 after graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1990.

Bob’s community involvement includes serving as a frequent volunteer and pro bono attorney for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.  He also has served on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels, Inc., and the Legal Aid Corporation of Tippecanoe County.

Bob was admitted to the Indiana State Bar Association in 1993, and the U.S. District Courts in the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is also a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, and the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Jeff D. Oliphant

Jeff Oliphant has spent his entire legal career representing and working for victims of personal injury accidents and wrongful death incidents.  While attending the Indiana University School of Law, Jeff worked as a law clerk for a personal injury law firm.  He quickly realized that helping people, many of which were severely and permanently injured by the fault of others, was how he wanted to spend his career.  Jeff’s dedication and work ethic led that very same law firm to employ him as an attorney so he could continue working for their clients.  In 2005, when the chance was presented, Jeff quickly accepted an opportunity to join forces with The Hastings Law Firm.

Jeff graduated in 1985 from L&M High School in southern Indiana, where he was a standout basketball player and ultimately a member of the prestigious Indiana All-Star Basketball team.  Jeff was the only Indiana high school player that year to be recruited to play basketball at Indiana University by Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight.  Jeff was a member of I.U.’s 1987 National Championship team, the 1989 Big Ten Championship team, and served as a Co-Captain of the 1990 team.  As a student-athlete, Jeff was honored with the Scholastic Athletic Achievement Award by the I.U. Varsity Club, as well as the L.G. Balfour Award for bringing honor and distinction to the University.

Jeff spends the vast majority of time away from work with his wife Nancy, and their three children, Sam, Abigail, and Sophia.  Whether it’s helping with homework, coaching or watching their sports teams, or just cooking hot dogs around a campfire at their Carmel, Indiana home, he gets no greater pleasure than spending time with his family and friends.

Jeff Oliphant was admitted to the Indiana State Bar Association in 1995, after graduating from law school. He is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, as well as the American Bar Association. He is also on the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association’s Board of Directors, and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, in the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Working as personal injury and auto accident lawyers, Mr. Oliphant and the other members of The Hastings Law Firm have been able to help thousands of clients.
